It is possible to extend a work permit an unlimited number of times, but the validity period of each new one remains the same – up to 3 years for highly qualified specialists and up to 1 year for quota and above quota workers.
The standard period for issuing a work permit for a foreign employee is 14 working days, starting from the day the documents are received at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This period does not include the time for getting a permission to attract foreign labour, getting quotas and the decision of the Employment Centre. In other words, in 14 working days, you can only issue a work permit for highly qualified specialists or for an employee of an organization that already has all the necessary permissions and quotas. Otherwise, it will take a few months, taking into account all the necessary steps.
